چکیده

Abstract Olive mill wastewater is one of the environmental problems in semiarid regions. The main goals this study were to investigate impacts different olive levels on durum wheat ( Triticum aestivum var. Douma1) production and soil microbial activities (i.e., bacteria fungi). A pot experiment was conducted during growing seasons 2015/2017 evaluate effect three both growth productivity attributes wheat. Vertisol samples collected from southern Syria. Two months before cultivation, wastewater: T5 (5 L/m 2 ), T10 (10 ) T15 (15 added pots filled with samples. Also, a control (T0) free considered as reference . Results showed significant increase p < 0.05) germination rate (%), plant height (cm), ear length kernels number, weight per (g) grain yield (g/m compared control. However, treatment did not induce terms length, or (in second season). On other hand, had recorded best results two treatments (T5, T15). Similarly, number bacterial fungi cells by increasing concentration. This research provides promising toward using an eco-friendly way under Syrian conditions.

Reduction of the phenolic components in olive-mill wastewater by an enzymatic treatment and its impact on durum wheat (Triticum durum Desf.) germinability.

Olive-mill wastewater (OMW), an effluent of olive oil extraction process, is annually produced in huge amounts in olive growing areas. An interesting option for its disposal is the spreading on agricultural land, provided that phytotoxic effects are neutralized. The objective of the present investigation was to evaluate the potential of an enzyme-based treatment in removing OMW phytotoxicity. T...

Crop Rotation Effects on Soil Microbial Populations, Biomass and Diversity under Wheat in a Brown Loam

The inclusion of grain and green manure (GM) or forage legumes in cereal production systems on the Prairies does improve the fertility and quality of soils (Wright 1990; Campbell et al. 1992; Green and Biederbeck 1995; Biederbeck et al. 1998). Legume-based cropping systems can also reduce nitrogen losses and greatly increase the proportion of crop residuecarbon that is sequestered in stable soi...

Synergistic Antibacterial Effects of Polyphenolic Compounds from Olive Mill Wastewater

Polyphenols or phenolic compounds are groups of secondary metabolites widely distributed in plants and found in olive mill wastewater (OMW). Phenolic compounds as well as OMW extracts were evaluated in vitro for their antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive (Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae). Most of th...

Antimicrobial Activity of Olive Mill Waters (Alpechin) and Biotransformed Mill Wastewater Waste- Olive Oil

Olive oil extraction produces a great volume of residue. These olive mill wastes are known as alpechin. This wastewater is a powerful pollutant, resistant to degradation and presents a severe environmental problem related to its high organic content made up largely of simple phenolic compounds, that have been described as being both antimicrobial and phytotoxic. This paper reviews briefly the a...
